1.日本的学校结构
在日本，义务教育阶段是从满六岁到满十五岁为止的九年间必须要进入学校学习。
日本的小学是六年制，6-12岁的适龄儿童可以进入小学学习。
日本的中学是六年制，12-18岁的青少年可以进入中学学习。
持有长期在留资格的外国人与日本人一样可以将孩子送入学校学习。

2.外国人要进入公立学校该怎么做？
(1) 在政府机关要办的手续

外国人新来到日本，要去居住地的市、町、村的政府机关或者市、町、区、村的政府办公地进行外国人地址登录。
②就学说明和就学通知
凡有到达小学校入学年龄孩子的家庭，九月左右都会收到「就学说明」的册子。如果说明小册子没寄来的话，请去市政府或者市、区、町、村的政府办公地询问。
③确认学校请确认被指定学校的名字和场所。
前往所住地址的市/区役所，提出孩子上学的需求，工作人员会按照您所住的地址安排对应的划片公立学校入学，如果对应的公立学校名额已满，会就近安排别的公立学校。
(2) 在学校要办的手续
①公立学校一般会在二月份左右，举办入学前的说明会，有入学需求的家长可以根据您所在区域的公立学校前往了解。
②在进小学前和负责的老师直接谈话，请告诉老师什么时候来的日本，打算在日本待多久，日语能说多少，在家里用什么语言交谈，紧急时的联络人，要不要翻译等等。其他像健康方面、文化、饮食习惯、宗教上的问题，如有需求，也请与老师交流，一般学校会配有翻译服务于不懂日文的家长，但是也有需要家长找懂日语的朋友帮忙协助的情况。
